I’m not as familiar with the AU as with the AU Great job, many thanx for your work. You should maybe aurel the fix to Softpedia, Major Geeks, BetaNews and other such sites so it is easy to find during google searches and the like.
I was hoping I wasn’t the only one out there still using this chipset. Sadly, Aureal went bankrupt in and was later bought by Creative, so Aureal chipsets have had pretty poor support since XP — the stock Vortex2 driver included in Windows XP was a bare bones implementation at best.

I’ve also added a note that these drivers are bit only. I updated the INF files on the drivers so that the use the Vista installation method for multi-function devices.

At first I got no sound, and was totally bummed, but eventually found my way to the Software Mixer app it should have been easy to find like in XP then muted and un-muted the master Speaker volume, and heard a “click” or “blip”, and I thought – this is a good thing. You now have basic sound support in bit Vista. I can hardly believe they’d rip out the built in drivers for such a popular audio chip.
I don’t have the source code for the drivers, and it would take months to reverse engineer. Quick but aireal question: I was testing win7 on the weekend for the second time now and was pissed again whan the latest build did not recognize my and had to change back to integrated audio chipset which sounds a lot lamer and a lot noisier.
