Prepared with gochujang and honey, these ribs are both a little spicy and sweet. As an added bonus, the cooking liquid doubles as a thick, delicious sauce!


This version of delicious Korean beef short ribs dish for your Instant Pot or other multi-cooker pressure cooker will have the ribs falling off the bone! Soaking the ribs first is the traditional method. I recommend soaking for at least an hour, though traditionally, you would soak them for longer, changing the water after the first hour.


Place the ribs in a large bowl with enough water to cover all the ribs. Add a couple of tablespoons of sugar and stir until dissolved. Let the ribs soak for about 30 minutes. Drain and rinse the ribs. Drain well while preparing the other ingredients. In a small blender, blend the pear, onion, garlic, and ginger well.


Mix the soy sauce, maple syrup, rice wine, sesame oil, and spices in a small mixing bowl. In a resealable plastic bag, add the short ribs, and then pour in your sauce. Let the short ribs oak it in there for at least an hour or overnight. Then add beef broth to your Instant Pot, and add your trivet, so the meat stands up.


Instructions Wash the short ribs and place in a large container filled with cold water. Let it sit for around 20 minutes while preparing the ingredients for blanching and braise. Crush garlic cloves with the side of a knife and place in the Inner Pot. Add yellow and green onions, ginger and drained short ribs to the pot. Add 6 cups of cold water.


Soak your short ribs in cold water while gathering the remaining ingredients. This helps remove any bone fragments and keep the sauce clear when cooked. Transfer short ribs to a clean plate. Combine 1-tablespoon ginger, garlic, scallion whites, apple, pear, sesame oil, soy sauce and apple juice in a blender. Blend on high 1 minute; transfer puree to Instant Pot. Return short ribs to the pot, affix lid and set to Pressure-Cook High for 50 minutes. Once cooked allow 20 minutes for Instant Pot to.
